Anuz Art Creation - Rangoli Kolams..
Kolam is an auspicious art of decorating courtyards and pooja rooms/prayer for hindus drawn mainly by women and girls. Some women use rice flour to draw a kolam, which is the traditional medium to be used while others use colourful rice. Generally, a kolam is drawn with bare fingers using predetermined dots. The dots are either connected together to make a pattern or loops are drawn encircling the dots to complete a design.
When the symmetrical pattern is decorated in colors using colored sand or flower, then it is called rangoli.
These patterns or designs were created in the olden days (according to Tamil literature) using rice flour. Holding a handful of flour in their right hand, the woman will uniformly drop the flour to make a line through her thumb and pointer and keep on moving her hands to make the curve or the dots. Nowadays, women use powder made out of stone. (Stone is crushed and sold commercially). The patterns are very complicated and huge during festival months. The temples will have complex patterns that will cover thousands of square feet. Sometimes, several women together will create one large design.
Nowadays there are perforated rolling tubes, perforated trays and stencils available to speed the process of making kolams. During festivals and weddings, rice flour paste is used instead of the flour. This tradition of decorating with kolams is passed on from generation to generation. But as im too interested on this wonderful art by the Indian , i try to figure it out , how to do it .
Than I learn a wonderful kolam in not only depend on the patern, but the bright colour plays main role on this . A kolam draw wit colourful rice and ending with white borders always give xtra attraction and I have practice on that and, now it’s the main highlight in Anu’z Art Creation .

All about Henna + Mehendi
A lot of people usually confused what is real mean by mehendi and also henna.Actually this both leads to the same meaning ,but Henna is a paste created by the crushed leaves of henna plants , which have a natural staining ability ans added ingredients such as teas and lime juice. The use of the paste is to create temporary body decoration art which is called as Mehendi. The simple example of the differences is "Henna is the paste " and "Mehendi is the design".
Mehendi art has been used at celebrations like wedding and other special occasions which are traditionally associated with transcendence and transformation. It is used for workship and work but not for the shake of vanity. It is traditional for the bride to get together with her frenz and have them spend hours applying the henna to her skin and give her marriage advice in tandem. The patterns used for wedding night , sexual pointers and tips during the hours that it can take to complete the design. The bride's mehendi must be more beautiful and intricate than anyone else's of course since it is , after all its her special day.Another interesting facts is that the bride has good reason to look after her henna for she is not expected to partake in housework until the henna is gone. This means that she will not be rubbing, scrubbing and tubbing alot unless she really loves doing work @ home.
DO's
:: Mehendi should be kept atleast 4-5 hours till it is fully dry.
:: Scrape off the dry Mehendi and do not wash it with water for atleast 24hours
to ensure maximum colour
:: Apply a mixture of lemon and sugar , atleast twice to the dried area .
:: After the Mehendi are dried completely get some steam passing throuhg cloves
over the hot iron or apply Vicks or Minyak Cap Kapak for a good darkened coloe.
DONT's
:: After the mehendi are applied avoid washing the area with soap or water
:: Do not use an oily soap as this can prevent the color from setting properly
:: Avoid staying close to air -conditioner as it dries up the mehendi
:: Never do waxing, manicure ,pedicure and bleaching 4-5 days before applying the mehendi,
this can cause the Mehendi dont turns well.
Advice: PLEASE, never use BLACK HENNA. Don't even go near it. A chemical called PPD, present in black henna, can cause chemical burns on your skin. Escaping an allergic reaction the first time you use black henna does not mean that you will have the same luck next time.
